Ballinascreen Credit Union takes deposits from persons under the age of 16. These are referred to as "junior" or "minor" accounts.

An account for a minor shall be opened by means of an application form signed by the minor's parent or guardian (hereinafter called "the signing parent or guardian") and if he is able to write, by the minor himself





School Savings Scheme


Ballianscreen Credit Union organises a school saving scheme for the local primary schools in the area to help them start savings for the future. The school savings scheme is picked up weekly and delivered back on the same day.

The primary schools that are involved in the school saving scheme are: -

St. Mary’s Primary School,

St. Eoghan’s Primary School,

Gaelscoil na Speíríni,

Altayeskey Primary School.

St. Columba's Primary School.


As well as the generous interest rates that our school savers recieve, their also presented with a free gift on transferring from primary to secondary education. This gift is an item which always proves beneficial to the pupil in thier new school.


Junior to Adult Membership Gifts


Once a Junior member reaches the age of 16, they are required to either withdraw the balance of the account or to join the Credit Union as a full member so the balance of the junior account can be transfered to that account. If they choose to become a full member, the Credit Union presents them with one of the following:-

A Ballinascreen G.A.A. Jersey

A Ballinascreen G.A.A. Kitbag

Or a £10 savings voucher that goes into their new account.
